This is the first in a series on the different styles of homes that can be found in Ridgewood NJ. The first style to be featured is a very popular architectural style in Ridgewood…
The English Tudor
Tudor style homes can be found throughout Ridgewood but are most commonly found on the Westside and in the Old Country Club section of Ridgewood. Tudor homes typically have large stone chimneys, half-timberings, thick walls, leaded windows and steep roofs.
The knock on Ridgewood Tudors, if there is one, has been that they can be a bit dark inside. However, over the years, many Ridgewood Residents have renovated the older Tudors, opened up the floor plan and added larger windows and skylights to brighten up the interior. The home above is an example of a Ridgewood Tudor that was renovated to create light and space without compromising the classic Tudor style.
