If you live in Bergen County and are thinking about working with a Home Stager you will need to do a little homework.

Every day you hear about home staging on TV, furniture rental companies advertising staging and “Oh by the way, my friend is a stager”. With so many choices to pick from it should be easy, right? Wrong!

There are lots of people out there calling themselves “Stagers”. Simply attending a class, completing an online course or joining a staging organization does not mean they’ve got what it takes to service you.

Along with these credentials you should be looking for experience.

But how do you know who to choose?

Since a Stager’s job is to make a great first impression, make sure they present their work in the same way.

You want to look at a Stager’s portfolio.

  • Make sure that they show you pictures of their own work.
  • Check out their website; make sure they do not use stock photos. This can be very misleading.
  • Ask for references. An experienced stager will have no problem providing you with a list.

A Professional Home Stager will be a very valuable asset to you. Choose wisely.

Staging Tip # 2:

Make sure your potential buyers are greeted with a freshly painted front door and a new ‘Welcome” mat.
